Default Battery dead manual locks cannot open

Hi I have a 2000 jaguar s type. i haven't used it for a month. The battery is dead and I cannot turn the key hole manually in the driver side and at the trunk. Its so hard to turn it might break the key. Is there any negative and positive terminal going to the battery that I can tap so that I can use my remote. I hope someone can help thanks

Welcome to the forum Krp,

I've moved your question from Jaguar Forums Advice / Feedback & Suggestion Center section to S-Type section. Members here with the same model will be able to advise on accessing terminals.

When you get a minute, please follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-intro-must-5/ to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Graham

Please use Search to get the answers (there are several ways but starter motor is probably easiest for you). Your key should work in the trunk (boot) lock, regardless. Behind the letter U of jaguar.

Try spraying some WD40 in the boot lock and then working it with the key. It should free up enough to then open.

It doesn't sound like an electrical fault me (the locks not working manually) so I'm guessing they are just fouled up with lack of use.

I would use brake and clutch cleaner to blast out the lock barrels, they should work ok then.

I was just about to say that, have you opened the door or boot with the key before?

I already opened the car door. I took of the right front tire and connected the terminal from the starter motor to a battery and the car opened thru remote. The key that I'm using is the same key I use with the ignition and it came from the dealer maybe I need to put oil with the mechanisms anyway guys thanks for the tips

I oil and test all keys and locks every month, also oil/grease all hinges and bonnet pull/catches

For any locks try to stay away from regular lubricants. Powdered graphite is cheap and easy to find at any parts store. Lubricants attract dirt and grime which gum up the locks with time.
