Default Battery Dead Trunk won't open

Hi, my battery is dead or I have a short. Can't open trunk, key fob, valet key back button won't open trunk. Any suggestions? I've seen post about a positive post in the engine for other Jags that i could put charge on. I see posts under black rubber boots on both sides. Anyway, ideas on how to get trunk open? Got a lot of rain the other day and I'm afraid I might have shorted out something.

Put the key in the hole under the letter 'U' in Jaguar on the trunk lid and turn...........

Need to put year-engine-tranny-miles so we know what car you have.

Remove the passenger front plastic wheel well liner. Should have a red cap on it.

Sorry, I thought the details would be listed from my profile. 2001 S-Type v4.0 130,000 miles. Mikey, the valet key in the trunk won't open it. The slot open the license plate. We sprayed WD-40 in and continue to try. Of course we checked the glove box for the button you push for valet etc. No power at all right now and can't figure out how to open it to get at battery. I'm afraid I might have water down in it.

Clubairth1, you are talking outside right? I had read there was a positive post inside the engine compartment. Under the liner there will be a some sort of post with a red cap?

Use the main key, not the valet.

Norri, well I feel a little red-faced. I tried the valet key and it wouldn't open it but I didn't try my ignition key. The ignition key did it, and I was full of water. Pulled the plug and I'm draining now. Hope I don't have any permanent damage. Thanks, I really feel dumb right now. Sam

The Velet key has one less cut on it to prevent it from opening the truck. lol But glad you got into it. The other option would be what I just had to do... remove the back seat.
