Batttery Change Results in Park Brake Fault/ABS MSG
Recently I changed the battery in my 2003 STR. In doing so I acquired a "Park Brake Fault / ABS" mesage. My local Jaguar dealer tells me I need a new electric parking brake motor. Is this just a coincidence with the battery replacement or is there possibly another issue ?

Yes you need to recalibrate it...EPB reset procedure..there are 2 ways
3. Firmly apply and release the footbrake five times.
4. Confirm that the messageNOT CALIBRATED or APPLY FOOT AND PARK
BRAKE is displayed on the instrument cluster message center. This indicates that the parking brake is in calibration mode.
5. Lightly press the footbrake pedal.
6. Apply the parking brake by using the EPB switch.
7. Release the parking brake.
8. Release the footbrake.
9. Confirm that the brake warning lamp is no longer illuminated on the instrument pack and that the NOT CALIBRATED message is no longer displayed in the message center.
10. Apply and release the EPB five times to ensure no error is present.
option 2
Start engine
lightly apply foot brake and hold
apply EPB
let go foot brake
repeat 10 times, 5 seconds between times
Also, you will need to relearn your windows for auto up
lower all windows..hold each window up switch until closed and hold for 2 seconds, you will hear the switch "set" repeat for al windows and test
your done!!

Its not that involved to reset pb, but you may not have gotten a "clean" reconnect on the battery. By this i meen little sparkies instead of a smooth clean reconnection, and this can creat ecu problems. I would do a hard battery reboot, and start over. You should only have to pull up on the pb switch with your foot on the brake pedal once to reset the pb.
I just had a 07xk with an inop top and a passenger mirror that went up in rev and wouldnt dip, all this after the bodyshop let the battery go dead, soooooo. reboot and reset the windows again, got the top retimed and working correctly. Mirror still screwed and after much checking I couldnt find a fault with the system other than software?? So another reboot and now all is well

I had my battery disconnected yesterday and when reconnected, horns honked (alarm) things start to beep inside the car, etc. I just press the lock or unlock (can't remember which) on my keyfob and everything is back to normal. However when I got to the top of my driveway, the dash readout told me to "apply the emergency brake". Did that and a minute later drove away with everything working perfectly. *The mysteries of Jaguar land.
