Question "Bi-Polar" AC and Heat

After reading several threads on the subject I am starting a new post as my problem is related but different.

When I turn on the Auto button on the climate control and adjust the thermostat to HI (above 85F), I get hot air out of the passenger side foot vent and cool air out of the driver side foot vent.

When I set the thermostat to Lo (below 65F) I get cold air out of the driver side dash vents and luke-warm air (somewhat cool) out of the passenger side dash vents.

When set at normal temperatures (eg, about 72F) in hot weather I get cold air out of all vents on the driver side and luke-warm on the passenger side. In cold weather it is the reverse, hot air on the passenger side and luke-warm on the driver.

Is this a DCCV problem? Is it worth trying adding freon?

2001 S-Type, 4.0L, 111k miles.

Don't add gas without checking the working hi & lo pressures (which may well be fine).

You may have any of faulty: sensor(s), module, DCCV.

check the heater control valve…it $65 on rock auto, only three hoses and an electrical plug, near radiator up front, easier to change on lift…. it controls the hot water flow to heater core…they get sticky and sometime cause hot water to flow up to core while AC is on… the Metrix brand is $65, the bosch is like $150

On a 4.0 it would be 5 hose.

and I would never doubt JagV8, lol….I had just thought I heard or read somewhere that some years had 3 hoses and some 5… Just had mine done, very tight spot to get to, 5 hoses with small clip clamps, a little easier to do with a lift.

actually a quick question, I see the "auxiliary water pump" mentioned once and a while on the 4.0 models when I was looking into the DCCV issues….what does it actually do, and what are the symptoms of a bad one? does it affect the AC at all? Thanks.
