Bleed Value or Proceedure for 2000 S 3.0
Hi All,
I have a 2000 S 3.0 that I am trying to figure out the proceedure for Bleeding the cooling system. I tried to look for a bleed value but did not see anything that I recognized as such. Can someone offer a hint of where to look/what to look for in trying to find a value to bleed this system?
Thanks!
Robert

Engine block + Heater core bleed procedure.
This procedure needs to be performed in step otherwise you will have air pockets in the coolant system, that could cause your car to over heat and damage your engine.
Pockets of air can also give a false temp to the temperature sending unit, thus give a false reading on your temp guage.
Alldata is cheap and has this procedure.

Now thats the best advise you have contributed here yet Danielsatur.
Novatorob, I am not sure if the 01's and '05's are similiar. On the '05, just to the left of the radiator fill hole on the expansion tank, there is a black plastic screw looking bleeder (about the size of a dime). Alldata cautions on overtightening it! AND of course DO NOT ATTEMPT WHILE ENGINE IS HOT!!!

I don't Paste,Copy procedures,or pics.
I want to make sure he's on the same page, you cant argue with Alldata.
You also need to turn Heat on Max and run RPM's!
What about Engine block bleed?
Oops ! You missed a couple of steps.
Everything always seems tobe a blame game with BS, bad procedures, it's blamed between Software Engineers,Hardware Engineers,Technicians, Auto parts, and project managers.
Others want a pacifier and a pay check, thats why 2 of the Big3 Failed, and sold jaguar to TA. TA.

The bleed screw is in the front of the engine on the plastic cooling pipe that's just under the throttle body. It has a flat head slot. Be gentle when you screw/unscrew it. It might be brittle.
There's also a bleed screw coming off of the tube on the expansion tank.
Fill up, start car, turn up heat to max, continue to fill up until coolant leaks from front bleed screw, then close front bleed screw.
Let engine reach operating temp. Rev the RPM's up a few times, check coolant tank and keep filling up as necessary.
Repeat this until coolant tank is a hot mark, close coolant tank bleed screw and cap and you're all set.

Don't forget to exercise BOTH controls for the DCCV with Eng at normal temp, Eng off,and the iginition in the On pos.Theres an electric water pump to force coolant through the DCCV and heater core with engine not running.
Opps ! This step isn't in the procedure either, and sometimes the whole procedure needs tobe repeated.
The electric coolant pump feature, can use alot of battery.
LOL - CAT Found On Road Dead (FORD) in the middle of winter, and save the customer from freezing feature.
Caution -Bad coolant services can damage freeze plugs ,water pump, thernostat, electric coolant pump, and Dual climate control valve.
We use Fourms to pump free Trades secrets, procedures and Issues, non-Jag Technicians should use ALLDATA for procedures not books from an Auto parts store.

I know JON89 isn't a Auto Technician!
He's got his car back!
Do a Google on ''Ford drive cycle'' , do some driving, and let see if his car is fixed!
JOsworth, might beable to help you with a new car.
Focus, this thread is about ''Coolant Bleed valve procedure''.

Do you have to be a member for a while, or make a certain number of posts to download this PDF? I've just done my coolant on my 1999 3.0 V6 and came to turn the bleed screw at the front of the car (near the air intake, on the pipe to the expeansion tank) and it just seems to spin around and not do anything? It says "service only" and has a slot in it for a screwdriver, is it just a 90° gate valve, or should it actually come out? Can't seem to find any other bleed valves, so just went with the old "fill it up, run it to temp, and squeeze the radiator hoses" method!

Take a look here https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ht=bleed+valve hope it helps.
