Default Bluetooth with the Apple i4 Phone....

I'm the first to admit that I know nothing about cell phones and Bluetooth. I'm one of the four people still left in the U.S. who refuses to be tied down to a cell phone. I gave them up in 1997 and have not had one since....

My wife's previous Blackberry phone always worked perfectly with the Bluetooth in her S-Type. She recently replaced the Blackberry with the Apple i4. She has been unable to sync it up with the Bluetooth. Our local Jaguar dealership tells me that with the car now being 6 model years old, the i4 may or may not work with the car's Bluetooth system, but they have thus far been unable to tell me step-by-step how to attempt to sync it up....

Can any of you mobile gadget gurus instruct me how to give it my best shot? My wife is so accustomed to Bluetooth now that not being able to sync up her i4 thus far has become a major inconvenience (or so she says). Anyone able to help?

Maybe one of these will be useful.

I dimly recall there's a list of supported phones and instructions .... maybe via where the free handbooks are.

Hi there Jon89

I went to the FAQ's but couldn't find the info (it was probably right in front of me), but having had the same problem awhile back, I had this site "bookmarked". Jaguar USA - JAGUAR BLUETOOTH® CONNECTIVITY Click on this "VISIT JAGUAR BLUETOOTH® CONNECTIVITY CENTER > > and follow the instructions. I'm sure they have this on the site somewhere.. if not...possibly they will in the future. Maybe a "search" would turn up some info, but I always phrase the search wrong and get nothing. Being used to "google" I more than likely make my search phrase to long...;>(((
Hope this helps...
Drive ON !!...

I checked the Jaguar Bluetooth center. I have a 2005 S-Type 3.0. Using my VIN, I found an Apple i4 is supposed to work and have all features available.

My book lists two different pairing codes....one in the book and one in a supplemental sheet.

Thanks to all who provided information above. I checked the various links you provided. All of the pairing instructions appear to assume that our car (VIN N50192) has a touchscreen navigation system. It does not - it just has the standard keypad with no nav. Any ideas?

Sorry... I just figured that you had the "Nav"...

Finally got the Apple i4 phone working through Bluetooth by playing around with the keypad on the dash. I think I correctly remembered the steps and key entries that finally got it working, so I wrote up a "cheat sheet" and placed it in the car's glovebox along with the owners manual. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll post the steps here....

Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this thread....

1. Turn on the ignition switch and audio system, then press the car's "phone mode" button on the keypad.

2. Enter # # 3 # * # on the car's keypad, then press the "send/end" button.

3. On the Apple i4 phone, select "Settings", then "General", then "Bluetooth".

4. Set Bluetooth to "On".

5. Select "Jaguar" from the scan results.

6. When prompted for a PIN, enter 1313.

7. Select "Connect".

That's what finally did it for us after about 20 minutes of trying various key sequences. Got it working late Saturday afternoon and my wife tells me that her Bluetooth system has been fine ever since....

Good luck....

Here's the relevant pages from the Bluetooth book and the supplement. Both with and without navigation screen instructions are included.

Heck you'd think people would download the free handbooks since the forum sticky even points them out

As a matter of fact, they aren't free and the Bluetooth manual isn't even on the web site for the 2005.

The TOPix web site is completely useless for me now. It opens in a smaller than screen-size window and you have to scroll sideways. Some of the menu choices are on the left side of the page and disappear when you scroll to the right side to click on a choice. IOW, you can't tell where you are on a page. It's completely useless junk.

It was free 2 mins ago. I chose S-Type then 2005 then Owner then Infotainment then Nav...Bluetooth and there it was - free. I didn't have to login or pay.

I'm using firefox in case there's a problem with Internet Exploder or your settings.

Did you use your site as jolly ole England or the US?

I get dropped on a site from TOPix and it all goes downhill from there.
