Bought Jag 05 model knowing trans is my on codes show P0729
Just bought yesterday.
I knew trans was shifting out of 3rd. I was thinking of getting a valve body with shifting solonoids installed. Do my own service when I can. Had codes read and cleared. Drove half mile they came back. Improper ratio 3 to 4, 5.6 not at all working. Fluid change showed nothing.
thank yall

Based on your description it is likely your E Clutch is toast. Replacing the valve body/solenoids will not rectify.
A few things to check on...
1) Is there any leakage/seepage in the TCM rubber sleeve. Is the TCM harness connector wet or damp?
2) Was the fluid topped off correctly. Dribble at 40 deg C then cap off?
3) When you drained the old fluid did you get 6 - 7L out?
4) Any seepage at the trans cooler lines? Pan??
If the trans was low on fluid (more than 2L) time to source a replacement unit as these rebuilt go between 5 - 7K at a trans shop.
You could also get the adaptions reset and flash the TCM but it sounds mechanical in nature.
These units are pretty good until they run low on fluid.
Good Luck

Make sure that your torque wrench can go that low or you may break the the New filter.
Here is the manual if you don't have it already
