Yeah I googled them. They are the "Vulcan" wheel.

18x8 front 245/40/18 tire
18x9.5 rear 275/35/18 tire

Hopefully this will be a decent balance of looks, performance and ride comfort. They are OEM, hubcentric Jag wheels. Now I just need to wait for them to arrive, and find a set of center caps for them. Oh and get real solid lug nuts...

Mikey: So, how long have you been running the OEM pads on the front? How hard are you on the brakes? Last but not least, and the reason for posting, why are you going to switch to ceramics?
I've had the OEM pads in the front for probably 20,000 Km so far. I don't abuse the car but brake firmly when the opportunity exists. I put the ceramics on the rear after getting a won't regret it from my local FLAPS and the taxi fleet owner who runs a bunch of S-types. They were right. I will convert to ceramic on the front when the time comes.

On the subject of slotted/drilled discs, braking hard and 'safety', I'll repeat my position that there's no benefit. The idea that they allow harder braking or are more fade proof is false.

Wink Brakes

As much as I like the look of slotted brakes. I've learned something. Cheese graters are not going on this car. I thank you guys for this wealth of information on brakes.
Maybe the hard braking causes the ABS braking system to kick the pedal and gives you some little bit of vibration in the steering wheel. I hope it is not the rotors.

It's not ABS...Actually if most people would drive my car they wouldn't feel what I'm talking about...I am just real picky about this stuff. I change things early. And I know that the slight vibration I'm feeling is the early warning signs that things are wearing out. No big deal if it is the rotors. They were really inexpensive..Plus I haven't even inquired about the warranty yet so I may get a free set anyway. I actually am very impressed with how well they have held up, but don't like the noise they make so this is the time to investigate some other alternatives.

That said....Keep the info flowing....

Those wheels are Vulcan's and came stock on my 2005 STR. I have the chrome version. I really think that pad materials very so much it is impossible to make general statements anymore. I have the Akebono ceramics and have no noise of any kind. They stop equal to the stock Brembo pads that dusted so badly. If they are harder on the rotor I have not seen that yet. Maybe they are??

Wink Changing fluids

Changing fluids is my thing. I drive for three or 4 months which is 550 miles and change the synthetic fluid to avoid moisture in the engine. The car sits a lot in the heated garage, and it is the 2000 4.0 s-type. It has 46.000 miles and the trans pan gets dropped and the filter changed tomorrow. Lucky it takes Mercon V. It looked and smelled clean when I checked it yesterday.
Good luck on the vibration!
