Brake question

Yeah I googled them. They are the "Vulcan" wheel.
18x8 front 245/40/18 tire
18x9.5 rear 275/35/18 tire
Hopefully this will be a decent balance of looks, performance and ride comfort. They are OEM, hubcentric Jag wheels. Now I just need to wait for them to arrive, and find a set of center caps for them. Oh and get real solid lug nuts...

I will definitely put up with the "industrial fan" if that is the safest way to go..
Mikey: So, how long have you been running the OEM pads on the front? How hard are you on the brakes? Last but not least, and the reason for posting, why are you going to switch to ceramics?

On the subject of slotted/drilled discs, braking hard and 'safety', I'll repeat my position that there's no benefit. The idea that they allow harder braking or are more fade proof is false.

Brakes
As much as I like the look of slotted brakes. I've learned something. Cheese graters are not going on this car. I thank you guys for this wealth of information on brakes.
Maybe the hard braking causes the ABS braking system to kick the pedal and gives you some little bit of vibration in the steering wheel. I hope it is not the rotors.

Those wheels are Vulcan's and came stock on my 2005 STR. I have the chrome version. I really think that pad materials very so much it is impossible to make general statements anymore. I have the Akebono ceramics and have no noise of any kind. They stop equal to the stock Brembo pads that dusted so badly. If they are harder on the rotor I have not seen that yet. Maybe they are??

Changing fluids
Changing fluids is my thing. I drive for three or 4 months which is 550 miles and change the synthetic fluid to avoid moisture in the engine. The car sits a lot in the heated garage, and it is the 2000 4.0 s-type. It has 46.000 miles and the trans pan gets dropped and the filter changed tomorrow. Lucky it takes Mercon V. It looked and smelled clean when I checked it yesterday.
Good luck on the vibration!
