Default Brake/wheel noise

I just purchased a 2002 S Type 3.0. There is a noise which is coming from the wheels. It is similar to the sound of going over tar strips, it occurs faster as speed increases, slower as speed decreases and stops as soon as you apply the brakes only to restart again when the brake pedal is released. It starts at approx. 20mph and is no longer heard at about 60mph. I took the car to a local mechanic who diagnosed the problem as a loose clip which is attached to the calipers to prevent chattering. He tried tightening the clip but it didn't help. Any ideas?

These cars are notorious for rear brake trouble around the park-brake area. A search here should show some advice...
