brakeperformance . com order ready
I ordered the rear rotors and premium pads for my STR, they are ready as of tomorrow. I ordered the x-drilled and slotted version (black) and will pick them up hopefully tomorrow. How bad are doing the rear rotors???
Front rotors are next, i need the rear done sooner than the fronts. Fronts have new pads on them already (Akebono)
Any tips tricks for me from the guys that have already done them?

might I ask what you were quoted for the rotors.....just wondering if it is the same I was quoted. I thought the fronts were unusually high and they were triple the price I paid for either my S60R or AMG from them.
I then found out that Amazon carries EBC drilled rotors for the STR, which when matched with ebc greenstfff pads is a "really" attractive option from a pricing standpoint.
The Jags brakes look exactly like the Volvo and the AMG...both brembo, These are the easiest rotors and pads in existence to change. just 2 pins to pop out with an small nail set or awl for the pad removal. you can compress the pistons by hand even. Just open the resivoir first.
Aside from the extra ebrake piece, I the rears should have the 2 pilot holes you insert a machine screw into and a few cranks and it pops right off...but I have not taken the wheel off yet to confirm

I think it will provide some useful information on changing out the brakes. I will be using this guide when I do all four rotors in mid March.
On a side note, I couldn't help but notice that you are in the So-Cal area and ride a CBR600RR. Do you by any chance visit the Mulholland Lookout/Rock Store area from time to time?
And also, I am planning to go to Famoso Raceway for a Test and Tune drag event on Saturday the 27th. Would you be interested in bringing your S-Type R?

I guess my timing must be horrible because I posted about a month ago that when I called Brakeperformance I was told they did have ANY style rotors in stock for the STR and did not know if or when they would get more. You guys didn't have any problems ordering from them? I called twice and got the same answer both times.
They are right down the street from me so I ended up ordering just the rear pads from them (at least for now).
The pads are simple to replace. Mine were completely worn and I was still able to push the pistons in by hand. I used the old pads for leverage. A third hand would be nice but still a very easy job. I spent way more time cleaning the calipers and insides of the rims than I did actually changing the pads.

The EPB is the only issue (the brembo pistons just push in - do it gently - and either open the bleed nipple or loosen the brake reservoir top, bearing in mind to check the level and avoid spillage). You can keep the EPB off by holding it down as you remove the key (or just don't remove the key). I hate working on powered things so would probably at least remove the fuse too (or disconnect the battery). But see that other thread, of course. If you need the EPB pistons in further (such as changing the EPB pads), you'll have to rotate them in using either a wind-back tool (a tool with pins in) or needle-nose pliers. Don't slip with pliers, and take it slow. I'm unclear exactly when you must or don't need to recalibrate the EPB. I'd think it can't hurt to do it and the details are on here if you search, I think.
