Brand new car v 14 year s type
I borrowed a brand new peugeot 508 (less than 100 miles on clock)and did over 800 miles for the weekend and it was no where near as nice as my 14 year old s type.
1st off I couldn't get the seat and steering wheel in a comftable position, I'm 6ft 2 and find it hard to get comftable in mist cars, I seem to have long legs, and if I have the seat back far enough to be comftable I then have problems reaching the steering wheel comftable, even on cars with reach and rake adjustment. The jag is one if the few cars I can get comfortable in.
2nd, the lack of power was astounding, the 508 is a big car and for some reason it had a 1.6 diesel engine in it, with 112hp. Totally useless. The only saving grace was the fuel consumption 60+ mpg.
3rd was more wind and road noise than the jag.
4th the ride quality seemed very harsh and seemed to crash and bang over big bumps and felt every little bump.
5th the steering feedback was terrible, it felt almost like a computer game, like it was not directly connected to the wheels.
6th a plus point at last, the road holding was pretty impressive for a big car with more grip than the jag.
7th the audio equipment was no where near as good as the jag.
8th the diesel engine vibrations could be felt all through the car especially at tickover where the is no vibration at all with the jag.
I could go on and on, but to some it up, I couldn't wait to get back in the jag and when I did it was like an old friend welcoming me home.

Agreed.
I have "driven" many makes and models over the years.
NOTHING rides like a Jag.
The closest would have been a DS23 Citroen Pallas, back in the early '70's.
My kids have had all sorts, as kids do, and I have driven most of them, and the need to exit them at the earliest possible moment and return to the Jag was rather intense at times.
Even the "old girl", MK10 1963, clunker, is better.
