Are you talking about the metal box on top of the V on the engine, below the intake?

What makes yout think you have a faulty oil separator in the first place? No one has ever reported any problem with it.

It is always helpful if you can provide the MY, engine type and other details of the vehicle in question if you are searching for help from this forum.

Is the problem a vacuum leak and a check engine light? If so, that's not the oil separator but a rubber hose that makes a 90-degree bend in the plumbing. Not that hard to change. But, on a vehicle of your age, I'd recommend a few other items while you are there.

Let us know.

I agree with the vacuum leak at the elbow. I used to repair this fault DOZENS of times at the dealer.

The oil separator itself requires removal of at least one cylinder head so I would NOT be in a hurry to blindly replace!!!!!!

Default im sure is oil separator

jaguar s type v6 3l 2001

i ve changed oil,and plugs, and i putted more oil then i should.after i realised what i ve done, was to late ,rpm gone up and the breather-vent-tube-XR839225 was making a strange noise,i ve checked from where is coming that noise, aparently under the 90 degress elbow from the same hose
soo...when i start car, the engine is taking more air then should need, the engine runs bad,i can feel smell of petrol unburned....i cut off air from breather-vent-tube-XR839225 to manifold intake and the engine started run almost normal.after that i tooked off the manifold and look again if was wright fited.everithing was ok.
i think because was to much oil the Oil Separator Breather XR819488 melted(90 degress elbow what goes i think inside the engine),this leading to much air to be sucked by manifold.
i was asking if somebody repalced ever Oil Separator Breather XR819488 on his car and if they have any sugestion how to replace it because the space is verry small and i don t know where the 90 degress elbow is going.i don t think can be another thing,so for that im asking only if somebody knows how to replace, has some picture or diagram of engine with oil separator breather xr 819488.
thanks again

One of the greatest members of this forum has an excellent writeup on his own site about vacuum elbow replacement.

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

This is as much information as you can get. Now, too much oil is never good but I can not see how it could damage the oil separator. Most likely you just have a faulty elbow.
