Default Burning smell after high speed

Hiya

I was wondering of somebody can help.

I have a s-type 3.0 se 2001 model with 68k miles on clock. I purchased it when it had 58k on clock and it had full jaguar service history since new.

Recently i had the front passenger side tyre changed and the chap that changed it said to change the disks soon as well.

Since he changed it the front passenger side wheel squeeks when driving or braking intermitantly. I took it back to the guy and he said its just sone grease that he didnt put enough of on.

Ok so that was a couple of months ago now im getting a bumping rattling sound from underneath the car when i turn corners partularly when im in a multistorey car park and whenever i take it onto the motorway i get a acrid burning smell in the cabin, its not strong but you can definatly smell it.

Any ideas as to whats causing the smells and rattling?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

It might also be worth checking you don't have a sticking brake caliper, I had a sticking rear caliper, I didn't notice at town speeds only motorway speeds, symptoms were more brake dust on wheel than other, a burning clutch/brake smell and the disc and wheel hotter than the other

Sounds like a sticking brake caliper to me too. Go for a quick run, then when you stop feel at the centre of each wheel in turn to see which one is very hot - that'll be the one with the sticking caliper.

Warning! The metal wheel with the sticking caliper may be hot enough to burn your hand, so be careful!

Do both...get the caliper lubed and get your car up on a lift to see where the coolant running. Probably on the passenger side right as the coolant pipe dips down past engine. Could be flinging down to a hot part of the manifold (burnt coolant smell).
