Im looking at a 2003 s type r. 12,000 with 31000 miles. Sound like a good deal? Is there anything i should be worried about.

Check Kelly Blue Book for a starting reference point.

Default Low mile STR

First have the car checked out by mechanic, see if it's been garaged or out in the elements for twelve years, look for lots of splatters of rubber in rear wheel wells (burning rubber), car fax, and if it's just been sitting for years with no use. If it pans out ok and you like it, you'll probably never see another good one with that low mileage.

Actually, my experience has been that KBB is best for average condition cars but is low and sometimes exceedingly so for excellent condition cars. Perhaps like you say OK for a starting point but if someone is looking for a truly excellent condition car often NADA is a better guide. Best of all if you know someone in the business, they can get you the latest wholesale and retail prices from actual sales with accurate condition details. eBay is not bad if you look at sold listings, but you can bet that the eBay sales are not the top quality Jaguars for the most part.

The kind of miles is far more important than the number of miles but that is a hard one to know with certainty.

Default 04 STR

Paid $11k for my 04 a year ago. Had 33K on it. Needed tires, clock spring and service which I knew going in. Brake pads had been replaced - poorly it turns out - had to replace pads and rotors. Just go into it with your eyes and wallet open as something will break and cost $$ - its a car after all. That said, the clean low mile, unmodified rigs are very hard to find. Almost 38k on her now, all good!
