Default a/c heater blower with mind of its own

Twice now I have approaced my '03 s type to find the a/c heater blower motor running to beat the band. Windows are up everything is turned off. The other day it happened while I was in the car with the drivers window down and no key in the ignition. What's this? Don

Just to check - it's definitely the a/c blower? Not by any chance the engine cooling fan?

Would the engine have been cold (i.e. some hours since car last used) on any of the occasions it's happened?

If it happens again when the key's not in the ignition, see if you can operate any of the things ithat should need it in the ignition. (To help figure out if it's an ignition lock/etc problem.)

I bet it's the cooling fan as well.

Default Mine does this too...

You're not alone Don. Mine does the same thing. It's definitely not the cooling fan. I'll come home, park the car in the garage, go out to the garage anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour later and find the interior blower going at full speed. Key's been out of the ignition the entire time. If I re-insert the key, turn it to the position just before the starter engages (i.e. enough to bring up the radio and everything else) and then turn the ignition back to off and take out the key, the fan will stop. Of course it could be coming on again after I go back inside... haven't cared enough to babysit it that closely. I've noticed it doing this at least 15 times over the past two years.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Bob

Hi, the same thing happened yesterday to my 2006 STR. I was working in the garage at night and all of a sudden my blower fan went on. I was thinking this might be a feature to get rid of moisture from the system, but I cannot find info on that.
Has anyone rectified this on their cars?
thanks,
Frank

It's a documented feature in one or another of jag docs.

It's in my user manual. The AC blower will come on automatically after sitting for about 20 minutes to clear the musty air out of the vents or something silly like that. I always wanted to see it in action one day. One of the more silly features of this model.

Thanks for finding that! I had no idea the interior fan would run after the car was shut down?

I guess it's a bit like the old Microsoft saying. It's not a bug, it's a feature!

Had this happen the other day on my 74 XJ6 while driving at night. The heater came on and was getting SO hot in the cabin I was sweating. Fiddled with the switch and nothing changed (unless I put it to "High" which made it twice as hot obviously).

Sure this is normal? It was crazy hot.

It's done via the S-Type's computers. You're in the wrong forum, as yours will be something else!

Default 2005 s type R blower fan wont shut off

I just encountered this problem with my 2005 s type R where the interior blower fan is running every time I go back to the car after shutting it off. When I turn the key to the right to engage the radio etc it shuts off. Has anyone found a solution to this problem. I am concerned that this is kill my battery. Thanks

At least change / swap relays as a bad one might do it - gran JTIS and see Electrical Guide to figure out the possible suspects.
