A/C Recharge - S Type

I talked to my mechanic and since my A/c is blowing colder on one side than the other it most likely needs a recharge of freon into the system. I have researched other posts about the possibility of a leak, but I really think it's ridiculous to pay someone 150 bucks to add freon. Where is the low pressure line on an 01' s type and since I haven't done this before, is it that hard to do? Thanks in advance!

The low pressure valve is behind the left front wheel. You have to remove the wheel and also the fender liner. The fuel filter is in the vicinity. If you are getting cold air on just one side, I suspect that you may have a problem with the dccv (dual climate control valve). This valve controls the dual temperature control. This valve is located near the bottem of the radiator on the passenger side. It has three hoses leading to it and is not too hard to replace although you have to remove the belly pan. You can get a new Bosch valve on e bay for around $200. There are numerous posts concerning the dccv on this forum.
