Unhappy A/C woes already

So in Houston we are warming up quickly this year, my 03' STR seems to blow cold around 1500 rpm and above, at idle and puttering around town this thing is useless. I have had the pressures checked vacuumed recharged to correct levels and still lousy. pressures on low side read high around 60 psi at idle and the high side is running 225 to 250, ambient was around 73 degrees or so when checked. They removed .95lbs, so a little low and recharged after holding a vacuum for 20 mins to correct levels still similar psi readings. cools down pretty well on the freeway of course, from what I could see the fan was running although did not sound like it was on a high speed when idling. that is about all I can come up with, they recommended that the expansion valve could be going, although he was not ready to write it off as that either(did mention he had little to no desire to pull the dash out to change it though

Any ideas or other items to investigate would be greatly appreciated, as driving around down here with no ac is really not an option come summer time.

Thank you!!

This TSB may help, check your compressor to see if it has the oval plate with two screws on the end.

That tsb only applies to V6 models, not V8. Non the less it sounds like you have a bad compressor.

seems to be leaning that way jus in case are they the same on the 4.2L as a Lincoln LS ? The Jag part is insanely $$$ also seems odd but with the climate control switched off I get what appears to be heated air blowing out of the vents slightly definitely warmer than the air outside, when I shut the door with the windows up I get a thud coming from the top right side of the dash, granted this has happened for quite some time but am not sure how to check if a recirc door or something of that nature may have broken, its like the air pressure the door creates when closing forces a door to slam shut sigh, these cars are never easy

Your right, but what is the difference in the compressors apart from the mounting lugs?

OK, so further digging around.... should the engine / radiator fan switch on high when the ac is on and operating ??? If i stand by the front of the car ac on full blast I do not hear the fan at all over the engine, i do recall hearing it in the past if the ac was on...

The PCM controls both a/c & fan so if it decides not to put a/c on it will control the fan solely on engine temp etc. My fan has 2 fuses that I'd check if in doubt before hunting through the electrical guide for relays, connectors etc.

finally hooked up the WDS to it and received the following codes:
Pending:

B1676
B1264
B1263
B1262

Permanent:
B1265
B1242
B1342 (Marked odst)

I would love not to replace the entire under dash unit to fix a broken door etc. (seems like the one right behind the cabin air filter that makes the thud sound, some of the seals have blown out the vents also. not sure if anyone can read more into these codes

Thanks in advance!!!

Paul

Of the last 3, the first 2 are a/c module or wiring faults, the last's a module fault. They're detailed in depth in JTIS & its codes PDFs.

to follow up the dccv was toast, fried my rccm module repaired thankfully. my under dash box is a mess though (broken doors) so a new one is on the way along with a new compressor. question... for an 03 STR is there a motorcraft / ford OEM part interchange for the dehydrator /drier ? I have seen some cross ref. to the swap but wanted to confirm the part number Ford: YL-190 would be identical to the 2x priced Jag unit

thanks to all for their help
