you more than likely have a heater control valve leaking hot coolant into the passenger side heater core. The rubber plunger seal inside do fail, and the reason I say leaking, is cause if they were stuck open it wouldnt be luke warm. But HOT, there no way the AC can over 220* coolant temp to provide AC. To verify, clamp off the hetaer hoses it the engine bay so that not coolant goes through and see if that changes your issue to having AC on both sides. If it does then you need a DCCV(dual climate control valve)

As a follow-up, what if you AC is working fine and then transitions to hot air on all the vents? Turn it off for about 30 seconds and it functions properly again. This happens about twice a week...

Thanks for any follow-up help

ide suspect bad evap temp sensor 1st. If its think(reads) that the evaporator is freezing it will shut off ac and depending on reading give heat. Its a cheap($30) easy part and common issue if you ant to diy without paying someone to try and duplicate and charge you

Is this sensor inside, near the key hole, or is it in the cooling system somewhere? Is there more than one Evaporator sensor?

Thanks for any help you can provide...

driver side of the ac box about above your right thigh sitting it the seat. Its a white sensor and 2 wires. Pop it out with a small screwdriver to pop out of the case. The new 1 snaps in and reconnect the wire connector. I have changed 1 already today for a compressor short cycling. If you buy the new 1 youll easily identify it.
