Default Cabin filter help

A little help please.

Found out the last monkey to work on my car never replaced cabin filter hence I need to get one.

How do I know which way it installs? Need to make sure the air flow is correct.

Thanks

Darren

Hey man Merry Christmas!!!

There are a TON of cabin filters out there, make sure you get a good carbon one not just the regular paper one, belive me you will be much happier.

They are about $25 bucks on ebay the Motorcraft (Ford) filters will work as teh original one in my car when I took it out was stamped MOTORCRAFT...

They are marked with the airflow direction in most cases (just like a furnace filter) but in some instances you may need to resuse the rubber side frame off of your old filter. It will just pull off and you can snap it back onto the new filter..

The filter is located on the passengers side under the cowling. There are several small snap pins that hold it down you can push them in with a small screwdriver and they will pop allowing you to remove the cowel. On some models there are also a couple of smaller torx I believe a T8 or T10 cant remember... But if you have these you will need to remove them as well. They may have a small square plastic cover over them but you will easily see it pop the cover take out the small torx screws and you can work the filter out fairly easily.

Should take you about 15 - 20 minutes tops there are some posts with pics if you do a search...

Good luck!

Yeah point the arrows toward the bulkhead in the way the air would flow naturally into the cabin and you are golden!

My pleasure! Good thread though I think its one of those things we all lose site of in the chase for a faster cat! Tons of threads on pulleys, ehaust and mods galore, but not much on passenger mods! LOL!!!

Here you go:

If your cowl seems to brittle to gently raise the passenger side, you may have to remove all the fastners and lift cowl.

Thank you cb. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you as well.

Hehe, I do have alot of Joyces Jag pictures on our puter. As you see, we unexpectedly purchased a vehicle that needed some work. But it is all good and for what we paid, I still can sell it for just about what we paid for it almost 4 years ago.

Remove the cowl completely. You car is old and all the plastic is brittle. Don't risk breaking expensive parts to save 5 minutes!!

I also clean that area out as it collects leaves and needles.

Thanks everyone. I've read the post that rick posted up.

But that didn't explain arrow direction. But we have explained that in this thread.

Happy Xmas holidays y'all.
