Caliper bolt location

Thanks very much. I did figure it out on my own as is usually the case with me but I thought I'd throw it out there in case I failed miserably. My problem was lack of visibility but as soon as I got the car up a little higher I could finally see what was going on. Both front rotors and pads were installed and it went without too much drama. Except of course, in just finding the damn bolts in the first place. The next pad change will go pretty quickly as I won't need to change rotors. Mission accomplished.

Bolts or slide pins?
The slide pins are undone using a hex key and not a wrench. They hide under black round plastic plugs about 5/8" in diameter.
It is possible to remove the caliper and caliper bracket by undoing the bracket bolts, but then you have not serviced the slide pins which need inspection and lubrication at every pad change.
Yes, I see that you were also servicing the rotors which requires the bracket to come off as well. Either way, the slide pins need lubrication in the bores.

JTIS on the S-type does not call for lubrication of the guide pins.
There are, according to JTIS, two pairs of hex headed bolts. The larger pair retains the caliper mounting plate, the smaller pair is the guide pins which allow the caliper to float in relation to the caliper mounting plate.
Perhaps someon who actually owns a S-Type can advise you further as this model uses brakes that look different fromt the XK and XJ.
