Be careful who works on your car

I helped my friend do this along with a Jag tech at his house. it was a very long day and the tech brought all the parts plus a few special alignment tools designed specifically for the job.
If you are very experienced with working on double overhead cam engines and have already done work like this yes you can do it. Otherwise I think you should get some help. My friend an I both have experience like this but he decided to have the Jag's national technical service director (at that time) give us a hand.
Fortunately, none of the plastic bits had broken so it was limited to a R&R operation. We were there for 13 hours.

This time a buddy of my son helped him change the clutch, when the engine was dropped, one of the engine mounting bolts was missing a bolt head on the pressure plate was sheared off, dropping the pressure plate it looked second hand and not new. Needless to say I was livid. To cut a long story short, my son and I were visiting a new industrial estate (I can't remember the reason why) and lo and behold the was the so called VW specialist. So I confronted him. He said that the engine mount was unnecessary (over kill as he put it) and denied shearing the bolt head off. I knew I wasn't going to get any money out of him, I was content that he realised that I knew that he was a rip off
