Default Cat Conv replacement cost

I am checking around to see how much it is going to cost to have new magnaflows welded on. One shop quoted $30 a side but wanted my old cats. I checked and found out our cats can bring 100-150. A peice scrapped. I want to scrap them myself for that price. What has others paid to have them welded on?

That is dirt cheap compared to what I could find. Several shops would not touch it and the shop I ended up with was $250, although he did a super nice job. Put all new pipe from the manifold down with all the bungs welded in.

I was lucky enough to be able to weld them myself. But that price is more than fair even with the cats, I do not think that they are worth 100-150 a piece @ scrap prices. last time I scrapped cats I got like $20 each (non Jag ) You also have to weld in 4 O2 bungs.

achysclic, urompn hit the nail on the head. Take the $30 per side and let em cash in on the worn stock cats. Highly doubt they'll get over $50 a pair, and who cares? The Install price alone is awesome. Place the cats a bit downstream, just under the floor boards instead of under the manifolds as stock has it. This will lower under hood temps. by 30 degrees= power.

Thanks guys. I was just going by this web site that says they will pay $184 a piece for exotic import. Even just a small import will bring $105

Called another shop explained what I need. Told them I wanted new pipe from top of cats to manifolds plus keep my old cats. they quoted 80-100.. So I guess that isn't that bad since I can get that easily back out of the old cats. BTW I can't believe somebody charged $250 for this. I have had complete dual exhaust made up with mufflers and all less than that.

USA 1 to 9 Converters Pricing
from the site:

*Any catalytic converters that have material missing and are not full we will grade as 3/4, 1/2 or 1/4 of the full price when they arrive and we will adjust the price for those converters that rattle when you shake them (that is how you can tell for yourself that it may not be counted as Full. Converters that are cut down past the pipes into the converter or have had the heat shields removed may be identified as different as the heat sheilds are the primary identifier and will be identified and paid as the lesser because identifying them outside of doing an assay x-ray that costs more than an individual converter offers.(see "USA Ceramic Material Only Pricing By Assay")

***Prices subject to change without notice due to unstable market***
What are the chances you get the full amount after taking into account the weasel wording and the fact that this is done over the internet?

You wouldn't happen to have pics of your setup. I just feel if I have good pics to show them that it would help them get what I am asking.

I have not looked real close at the str but on the 01 the stock wire coming off the O2 sensor was very short. You may have to get a wire extension to move them downstream more.
