Cats Melted

Cats Melted
In an earlier thread I described a CEL with "Restricted Performance" message. The EGR tube had rusted then split midway at the corrugated flexing section. This event likely leaned the exhaust gasses, raising exhaust temps., inturn melting the cats. The new EGR tube ($120) was noticeably larger in diameter and beefier than the failed stock tube. The passenger side cat was rattling, so a Magnaflow cat was installed yesterday. Ordering the drivers side today for a late next week install. The passenger side exhaust manifold gasket is likely leaking due to a slight exhaust leak sound that dissappears shortly after warm-up. Will the Lincoln LS exhaust manifold gaskets interchange? Happy Holidays to all!

Can't help about the LS, sorry.
Is that the EGR tube that feeds the exhaust gas back into the engine (as I think)? If so, I don't see how it would lean the exhaust gas since it's under pressure. Instead, it should leak exhaust at the split, shouldn't it?
hmm, at low load does it suck? Anyone know?
