CD Player Issue

CD Player Issue
I have a single CD player in my 2005 S-Type. The first time I tried the CD player, I got a CD error message after inserting the CD. After playing around with it, I noticed that if I hit the A-Mem button right after inserting the CD, everything worked fine. I looked through the Jaguar documentation and there was no mention of having to hit the A-Mem button. Don't know if it's a documentation issue or something squirrelly with my CD player. At any rate, it works great for me using this procedure.

coincidental that you would hit the button and get it to work, and does it still give error message if you dont do this? Ive never seen info on this either, and replaced many a players for a error message. Never gotten a bulletin, charge back for no fault found etc... I wonder what this has done to enable getting around the fault?

Hi Brutal,
I'll try it again tomorrow. It may be a one time case where something needed to be initialized or something inherent in the system. If inherent, it's a simple workaround and certainly not worth a trip to a dealer. Assuming this is an actual systemic issue and results in a TSB authored by you, can we split the bonus? Anyway, I'm a happy camper. One downside though. When I'm on a back road listening to the 'Stones and J-Gating, my mileage goes to hell. The tach is usually above 3500 rpm. And they said Jags were an old man's car.

Hi Brutal,
I tried my CD player again and it seems work normally now. When I loaded a CD, it started playing. Another strange thing, when I first got the CD player working, the base and treble settings were at zero. I previously set them at max values. It seems like something needed to be initialized. The only thing I can think of is the A-Mem did something.
