I am looking to buy a Jaguar S-Type from a private seller and the engine light is on with the code P0065 - Air Assisted Injector Control Range/Performance. Does anyone have an idea what this means as well as the damage and cost of repair? I know without looking at the car its hard to tell what the problem is but has anyone had this before and what was the story behind it. Thanks a lot in advance!

Most P-codes that I've dealt with were injector related. If your ECU is fine, which a diagnostic run should be able to verify, then more than likely, its a clogged or failing injector. Changing out fuel injectors isn't usually too tough. Just some wiring and soldering skills needed. If I were buying any car off a private party, I'd get an OK to take the car in for a full diag. out of pocket. Worst case scenario, you shell $100 for the dealer to run the tests...find out its a bigger issue...eat the $100 and keep looking. Vs. the alternative....hoping its as easy as an injector, buying it...and finding out you have a major issue with the ingition system, fuel delivery system, or something way more expensive.
FYI...if it is just an injector...I recommend RC Engineering injectors. Bullet proof! Great company! I'd replace them all if I had a bad one.

Hello, that is really going out on a limb, the code can be caused by a bad air assist valve or piping. I looked to see if any related Tsb applies but none do. Asa technician, you do not guess, it is too expensive, you test. To say to replace all injectors is foolish, and very expensive labor and parts. Yes I would take it to a Jag dealer and ask for the shop foreman to do the diagnosis, that is your best bet.
