Default Chrome Wheels?

Well, I participated in a New England regional Concours event last weekend and despite doing pretty well (best in class... ;-) I lost points because of my wheels that were identified as not original, as "from the factory". My '08 4.2 has chrome vulcan wheels.

My question is, did these wheels come chrome plated from the factory or did someone, possibly the importing dealer, have the original alloy wheels chromed.

The Concours judge told me that according to their official information Jaguar never produced chrome wheels from the factory.

My wife's 2006 XK8 Victory Edition rolled out of the factory with a set of Atlas chrome wheels. It was part of the Victory Edition package. I don't care for them, but she's okay with them (which is good because I'm not willing to spend the money to replace them)....

So yes, some Jaguars did indeed leave the factory with chrome wheels installed....

Yes. Vulcans were available in chrome from the factory. At least it was listed in the factory literature.

I had my Vulcans chromed after the fact. I would probably use powder coat next time. The chrome always degrades and corrodes.

Does anyone have access to that literature? Is it available on-line?

Lots of the brochures are on this site as downloadable PDFs. Also on the net.

A google along these lines may work
jaguar vulcan filetype:pdf
or
jaguar s-type vulcan filetype:pdf

I have looked but can't find it in print. So I could be wrong about factory chrome Vulcans. If I do find it I will try to post it.

Well I called the original dealer and asked. They replied: "oh no, they never came from the factory that way. We have a in-house operation that does that"

They're located in LA, extra bling be required there...

And they did a pretty shitty job of it, too
