Default Coils and Spark Plugs

My 2001 Jag s-type 4.0l V8 with 211,700km on it. It has a misfire in cylinder 7 according to the OBD-II code reader. It is even noticeable when someone hears the noise coming from the exhaust. when stopped it studders and it hesitates a bit on take off. Does anyone know what might the problem be? Im thinking spark plugs or coils.
can someone tell me where the spark plugs are located on the V8 and how do i get to them?
Is there a jag replacement coil. i called Ford and they say i have to go through Jag because the didnt have the catalogue, even though they are ford made. Is there a part # on another ford with the same coils? i heard the Lincoln LS uses the same coils, not sure if this is true though. If so, what year?
Has anyone heard of coils made by BLUE STREAK? Are they any good?

USE EBAY COILS!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...=p4506.c0.m245

purchased installed and ran for 2 years no problems.

As for replacement of coils there is an access panel on the top of each cylinders valve cover held on by several 10mm headed bolts. Each coil is held in by one 13mm headed bolt and the wire clip. once the bolt and clip are removed simply pull up on the coil. Standard spark plug socket on 6in extension wil remove the plugs.

Happy hunting.

Thank you very much for all your help everyone.i called NAPA and the ford dealers and they said the part# is DG-515 made by motorcraft which are the same as the 2006 lincoln. i will tackle this problem immediately.
Just curious who makes the coils for Jaguar? wonder if they are also by motorcraft?
thanks guys
Anyone know what the spark plug gap should be set at? Not sure if its .050 or .052

Yes, original coils in Jaguars S-type engines were sourced from Motorcraft. When I replaced my original coils on my '00 S-type six of the eight coils were Motorcraft parts (I'm assuming the other two were replacement coils). The serial number cast into the plastic of the original Motocraft coils (a parts casting number by the actual coil manufacturer) was actually the exact same number as the replacement coils I purchased off of E-bay.

Bottom line, only a handful of companies make these coils (possibly less than three worldwide), so any replacement part sold under any name brand is likely to come from the same factory and be THE EXACT SAME COIL, doesn't matter if the box says Jaguar, Motorcraft, or NAPA; they are all the same coil from the same couple of factories.

Very true...
Here is another little example. I don't think I'll get in trouble for revealing this......
I work for a conection systems distributor. One of our main suppliers is Delphi.. So, Delphi is GM right? Well, not really. We ship Delphi connectors and terminals to just about everyone. From wire harness manufacturers to the likes of Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, Harley Davidson, John Deere, and the list goes on. So, the auto world is really quite the complicated web....

Default changed sparkplugs

ok, so i changed all the spark plugs today and it was quite a simple job. however, i ran into a huge problem. the person who previously did them, installed the furthest spark plug close to the fire wall on the left side crooked. i guess, it was cross threaded. i carefully installed the new double platinum but it doesnt seem to want to completely tighten up. the car still runs with code misfire cylinder 7. what do i do now? i am waiting for my coils to arive. how do i fix the spark plug thread?

IMHO if the car is not spitting the plug out it is probably not the cause of the misfire.
A helicoil is the answer to the thread problem, but you need to speak to a specialist to do it in place.

Ok, I realized that the firing order of this 4.0 is different. Left side from the front to back cylinders are 1,2,3,and 4. The right side from front are 5,6,7, and 8. Switched coil 7 with coil 6. Now, the misfire shows up on cylinder 6. I guess that the problem is the bad coil. will replace all 8 when they arrive and will let everyone know the result. thanks all
