Default VCT solenoid for 2001 S type 3.0

Does anyone know if Ford's 3.0 VCT solenoid is the same for this Jaguar. I have had my guys here at a ford dealer try and cross reference XR8E 6B297 AD and they can't come with anything, I was able to get a pigtail for it, WPT-1051 works like a charm.
I may be requiring one solenoid as I keep getting P1381, had followed pinpoint tests and can't find anything wrong with it, so I am suspecting a solenoid. Want to order one, Jag wants 200 for theirs part # XR816-235

Default Crankshaft Pulley/Harmonic Balancer?

Hi,
I have a de-laminated crankshaft pulley; the outer part has slipped 4 or 5mm towards the block and is causing the belt to squeal (chirp) because the alignment is out (I suspect the belt is the only thing keeping it in place).
Has anybody had any joy fitting an alternative Duratec 30 part?
Mazda, Lincoln, Ford? They all look identical and cost considerably less.
There are even aftermarket parts for the Lincoln that are less than 25% the price of the Jag part but no mention of fitting Jaguar.
The part numbers I have found so far are:
Jaguar: XR854185 (alternatives: XR822546, XR831679, XR83308, W0133-1655491
From the existing part: XW4E 6316
Mazda: MZDS-MPV
Lincoln: XW4Z6312BA
ATP 102355
Dorman 594-514

Any advice (including 'suck it up and buy the Jag part')?

Aidan

In 7 years yours is the first I recall.

That doesn't mean there were none but it must be a small number!

Thanks JagV8,

Very interesting.

I contacted my local Jaguar parts dealer, Berkshire Jaguar Components, and Anthony advised me that he had never heard of such a failure.

I guess if they rarely fail then people would not have investigated Ford or aftermarket parts.

Cheers,
Aidan

Sorry to be late to the party, but I just noticed this one. I had one fail on the 03 in 2010 at 80K miles. so 7 yrs/80k mi. It was a "tough get" as the story was Jaguar's supplier in Canada had gone out of business and they hadn't yet resourced it. Found one on the shelf in Houston and had it dropped to Motorcarman's shop and he installed it. I kept the failed one to have rebuilt in the future, figuring the same fate would befall the 05. So far, not an issue at 12 years and 125k mi. but it is safely tucked away on a shelf in a well-marked box and could be rebuilt and returned within a week or slightly more. The telltale chirp it makes gives you nearly a year's warning before it starts shredding the belts, so I should be good.

I've also had the same failure on the Diesel Excursion (150k to 180k mi, don't remember, exactly) and the 95 X300 (18 yrs/137k mi)

Came to browse this thread to determine if Motorcraft YH1504 is the same evap temp sensor as XR83729 for S-Types to VIN N14994? I believe it is and will confirm or deny later, after resolving my 03 issue of occasional hot air from outboard vents while cold air coming from inboard vents.

Confirmed: Motorcraft YH1504 = XR83729 Evap temp sensor.
Renewed it today. Problem was intermittent, so will probably take a week or so to confirm it has resolved the issue (or a day to deny it)

Measurable difference in resistance readings between old and new at same temp, so I'm hopeful.

Default Rear Reverse Parking Aid Backup Sensor SPEAKER Ford Part

I'm looking for the Ford equivalent part # for the reverse parking aid speaker for my 2003 Jaguar S-Type 4.2L V8. Can anyone help?

I saw somewhere that someone successfully used the Ford part, but they never specified the actual part number. I think they said it cost them like $6, instead of $50+!

In my research, it looks like this exact part may be used in lots of different vehicles.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Edit: I found the post I was referring to. It's not in the S-Type forum, but still applies.

I'd just get a used one. No need to struggle to get the Ford # which no-one may know.

Why not? I thought that's the whole point of this thread? Plus, I want a new one.

I suggest looking into the 2000's T-bird, Lincoln LS and perhaps some Taurus and Sable sedans of the same vintage then. See if the parts look the same for starters.
