Default Coolant leak

Hi guys, had a leak in my water pump, so got changed but there is another leak, can't see where it is coming from so likely will need to give it to garage for multiple hours of strip down to find leak.

Anyone had coolant leaks other than water pump, seems to be from the back of engine but then again......water can travel anywhere.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Default Coolant leak

I had the same problem when I bought by 2005 ST. Found the coolant overflow was bad and the coolant hose tree was cracked about 2 inches. The overflow was the easy part, the hose tree took some time. No issues on the coolant side now.

Are both those parts quite easy to find and access to change?

Default Coolant Leak

The overflow bottle is right up front, easy one. I originally got a A/M part for about 40 bucks but cap was bad and sensor did not work. Had to get OEM (120). Couple of hoses to loosen and replaced. The coolant hose tree was more challenging. on my 4.2 it is below the TB. Had to remove to get access. OEM part was 95 bucks on ebay. If you are mechanically minded, the tree can be replaced with patience.

No I'm not lol don't even know what the TB is lol, was thinking it could be the valley pipe as this seems common but costly

The TB is throttle body or the alum bit following the air hose from the air cleaner box. The "tree" is below. This is what was leaking for me, along with the coolant bottle to the left. The coolant tree is not overly difficult but I would suggest some basic mechanical knowledge or a friend who might.

It would be better to have the cooling system pressure tested to find the leak first then repair it.

Granted, the expansion tank, is a common leakage point, but not at the back of the engine.

Could equally be a hose on the throttle body, leaking back along the heads to the back of the engine if the least slope on the car.

Valley pipe, Is this not on the S type R only. The supercharged beast.

Why did they/you change the water pump? Leakage external , noise, overheating??

Find a Jaguar independent garage in your area, have them pressurise the system identify the problem (leak) then fix it.

100% Valley pipe. Yep all V8s not just STR. Much easier access for the NA cars though as no super charger to take off. Get it done quick before it lets go and you lose all the water !!
