Default Coolant leak or cap.

After reading through 6 pages of threads and finding few topics that discuss
what I am dealing with. The dreaded low coolant light on the dash. Never
had it before. It only appeared after giving it some serious gas and pushing
it up about 85mph. In a short burst. It sure can take off like rocketship.
But right after the low coolant light and smell of coolant when I parked.
Looked the next morning the coolant level was perfect. Right where is
should be. Now I was really curious. After reading all the painful stories
about the expansion tank leaking. Then all the simple replies, CAP. I took
the cheap route. https://www.jaguarmerriamparts.com/p...&siteid=215718 Cap was only $6.09, Shipping was the killer at over $10.
Cap arrived a couple hours ago, went and changed it out and the cap that
came with teh car looks nothing like the OEM cap I just bought.

OEM cap is on the right. Looks like some aftermarket cap came with it.

You could also have air in the system and it drops when pressed. The caps don't have to look the same to work well. New cap can't hurt anything.

Since changing the cap. Have had no problems with low coolant light or smell.
Hoping this was all problem there was.
