Default coolant leak under the car

Not sure exactly where it's coming from. My question is would I be safe to use a stop leak product? Anyone else have success with any of the stop leak products for coolant

What is the MY, engine type and is the engine NA or SC?

Where do you see the fluid on the ground or on the vehicle? Is the fluid in question definitely coolant?

When the vehicle has cold soaked, remove the reservoir cap and pressure test the system to identify the location of the leak.

short answer: stop leak will cause more problems than it solves.

search would have brought up any number of sad stories.

Don't do it, find and fix the leak.

Where on the ground is the leak? Close to the driver firewall means either the coolant recovery tank itself, or the hose leading to it. Both high failure items. If in the front center, next highest failure item is the water pump. After that check inlet to thermostat. I hope that the cat hasn't overheated yet....because that's next. Get the system pressure tested. Bad item will show up in minutes, like NBCat mentioned. No snake oil or pellets for a Jag.

Assuming it's coolant since I know it isn't oil. And I know it isn't water( has a somewhat slippery feel to it). Feels like coolant to me. And it's leaking underneath dripping from a finned part almost directly in the center . 2004 jaguar s type v6 3.0 naturally aspirated . The vehicle isn't overheating. But I add coolant maybe 1 to 3 times a month. And I've noticed it getting worse.
Thanks for the replies because I was about to pull the trigger on a stop leak product tomorrow.

When working, you woudn't be adding coolant at all so that's the clue.

NO STOP LEAK, nuf said.

On the V6, on the LH side, about midway along, but more to the rear, the "finned thing" is POSSIBLY the oil cooler, which sits atop the oil filter remote housing, and is sealed with an o/ring, and they can weep, then leak. Also there is a supply and return hose to that same cooler.

Of course it could be running down from anywhere above also.

I reckon some serious investigation is needed, NOW, followed by the FIX, then some ALCOHOL, purely for celebration reasons of course.
