Default Coolant leak

I had a coolant problem in my car last year, the level would be down and I'd top it off. This would happen maybe once every week or so. Then it got worse, but I still couldn't figure out where it was leaking. So I tried a radiator pressure tester and found the problem; which is where I'm am today. There was a leak in the radiator coolant overflow tank, in the back; which you couldn't see, but after pressurizing the system it would spit coolant out on the firewall near the power brake booster. There is a crack in the tank; which is kind of weird (at least to me) to see something like that. There isn't anything even close that would come in contact with it. Is it just maybe a bad part?

So now I'll have to find a tank. The part number on the tank is XW43-8A080-AD. Searching around on the internet, I found a replacement tank; which is part number REPJ161308.

Does anyone know anything about this replacement part, whether or not it is a good part. The price for this part ranges from $47 to $90. I haven’t checked with the dealer, but I’m sure it would at least $100 or more. I bought the upper plastic radiator hose from the dealer for about $110 and found the same thing for around $50 on the internet.

If you were going to buy this part, where would you go?

I really don't have a problem paying whatever it is worth. It just bothers me, when I buy something and then see the same item for half price somewhere else.

www.jagbits.com - +1 on sticking with dealer or Jaguar parts suppliers... going rate is anywhere between $90 - $140

Check ebay as well - ensure it is original Jaguar equipment.

The dealer just gave me another part number for the latest and greatest coolant tank; which is C2C34318. Dealer price is $145.

I'm trying to figure out if my leak is in the tank or the tan elbow near the fuel filter, just below the tank. I don't have fiber optic video but I'll try a mirror on a stick.

I tried looking at mine with a HF video inspection camera and couldn't see anything, so I removed it. Other than maybe seeing coolant coming out, with it pressurized I wouldn't have been able to see the crack.

Another member gave me a lead to a Jaguar dealer on the east coast and I bought the coolant tank from them for $96, plus $8 shipping. It just came and I'll install it this afternoon. The tank came with the hoses too.

Thanks, but it seems more like work than fun.

I changed the plugs and IMT o-rings to fix a couple of codes. The last time out, I got a cat failure code, then I figured out the coolant issue. I pulled the coolant tank, then put in new O2 sensors and took my HF inspection camera and looked inside of the exhaust pipes at the cats; while the O2 sensors were out, the honeycomb was all there. I know that the cats could still be bad, but at least with the honeycomb still there, it gives me some hope.

Now I'll be able to get it running again and see if there are any new codes and onto another chase.

Here are a couple of pictures of the coolant tank. The first one is the old tank, with the crack in the corner above the lower hose.
