Default Cooling fans.

For about a week now I have noticed that my cooling fans are running longer then normal even in extremely cold weather and are very noisy too. Also I can see electtronic wave interference on my touch screen. Now today for the first time the car went into the high temp. zone and the messege screen said high engine temp. If I turn the heat up it helps some but It's going in in the morning to get checked out.
Any Ideas?
Thanks!

Well this car has been on big coolant leak since the day I got it(heater hoses, feeder hoses) you name it and the expansion tank has been in for leaks 5 times and it still leaks at the hoses.I'm sure it has a slight leak someware due to the coolant smell. I will say that the level has never gone below the min. though. I would bet more on the thermostat. But what about the cooling fan noise and the touch screen interference? Is it possible that a bad motor is causing an extra load on the system giving me the interference?

The thermostat would make the fans run on. The fanpack may be bad and I have seen it cause rfi.

That makes sense. Lets see what the dealer says. I hope it's covered, If not I'll have to test out my aftermarket warranty!

Here's what I got from the dealer. Thermostat is bad, water pump is leaking and a hose is leaking. They also think that the interference that I get on the nav. screen when the fans turn on is a bad touch screen. I disagree because it only happens when the fans come on but if I'm getting a new screen for free then who am I to argue!!

LOL.....let them put it in and close the RO. Then if interference is still there, have them replace the fan pack

Good luck. Hope it works out.

All you should have to pay for is the hose right?

The hose and I am having them do the complete reprogram and software updates for the ECU and TCU including resetting shift points and updates. If this takes care of the shifting and idle issues then it will be well worth it. They are charging me a buck 70 for that which is cheaper than the 250.00 that I was originally quoted and WAAAAAAAy cheaper than driving to Canade or Fla. to get it done for free!! LOL
Also, Not a single diag charge even on the non covered hose and trans. diag. The dealer close to my house would have doubled the cost of everything and charged diag. on top of that and probably still would have missed something.

Well here's the latest. The Nav. screen is NOT covered by SE. just the Nav. module but it is covered by my aftermarke warranty so that is 50.00 ded. Also the rear stablinks I think they are called are bad causing the banging noise that has been described in other posts also not covered by SE. Again my aftermarket warranty does cover them so another 50.00 ded. Not too bad in my opinion. After all the wrok that is being done this baby should drive like a new car.

Glad you are getting it sorted. Will make a difference for sure.
Just to say, we cover the rear toe links under select for defect only, not split bushings.

Let us know how it comes out and how it rides.

I'll be picking up the car saturday morning. Buy the way they didn't replace the nav. screen after all not that it wasn't covered but the dealer couldn't show what was causing the interference. I never did think that anything was wrong with it anyway so that's ok. I still think it's the fans but if so it will show up in time. I'm pretty excited about the reprograming and software updates. Also maybe now with the links replaced I'll be able to heat the wennies from a dead stop without getting any wheel hop!!! And to top it off, No diag. fees and a nice 08 Cadi. CTS to drive for the week for free.

I got the car back and now it is exactally like it should be. Nice idle, smoother shifting and no more banging from the rear end. I have been trying to get this done ever since I got the car. I also got a very sharp "R Performance" License plate frame that I saw at the dealer. That should give me at least another 15 to 20 HP.
