Default I think I am joining this repair group!

My 03 sprang a leak today, puddling, not too bad,but has very similar symptoms of wetness at the back of the tray......
Will discuss with a specialist, I am too busy to get into this now! We'll see what he figures it should cost - any guess's out there?
Maybe 10 hrs for someone who has done it before???

The manual says the supercharger removal is about 6.3 hours. I bet one could get it done in about that amount of time after doing it once or twice. My shop said that it was a full day's work and it not at all enjoyable. I'll be making them earn their $109 an hour if I send it in(I'm about to throw in the towel on this one).

So, my guess is about $1000for you to fix this one including the hose and replacement gaskets...

Default Pipe similar to 5.4L Ford steel pipe

I am letting my mechanic work on this, showed him the picture of the pipe above in this post.
He has a 5.4L ford on the floor of the shop, and there is a VERY similar steel formed pipe use on it. When he gets things apart we can see if it is similar enough or worth using as a suitable alternative to the 4.2's rubber line - will post in a few days.

awesome. Let me know. I just dropped off my car at the shop today. I'd be interested in swapping mine to a hard line too. My car only has 38k miles, so it's not like it's been worn out by tons of heat cycles, vibration, ect.

Also, let me know how long it takes your guy to swap it out. I'm curious to see what different mechanics spend on it. It's a hard repair!

Default not going well....

I have been swamped looking after my dad in hospital this week, my mechanic told me two days ago - don't worry about it, it'll be ready Friday.
Today I called, they are having trouble.....
Went to his buddy who works on Jags and was told to leave the blower on and snake line in, taking blower off is difficult to re-align with intercooler gaskets etc - I have not noticed this on the forms...

What 'instructions' did you find on the blower removal, I have been reading thorugh JTIS system, and seams only to be part of engine dissassembly, and the JTIS diagram of coolant hoses doesn't really look likd the photo up near the top of this post....

Pete,

The hose apparently springs leaks from the end on the front side of the motor. Apparently Jag has a better hose out now that is more durable.

How do they expect to fix it if they leave the blower on? There's no possible way to fix it with the blower on. If it's got a leak, you got to fix it too.

As for the gaskets, that's the least of concern with this repair. The back bolt on the blower is an absolute bit**!

My mechanic has done the repair before and it still took him several hours to disassemble the car.

There's 31 steps to removing the blower. I was using one of the other online references(I can't remember the name but I think it was GTR or something like that).

qwiketz;
Can your post anything about how you got that back blower bolt off? Tools, extra hands?
I got a great suggestion from Brutal to notch the back hole on the blower case casting to help with installation. But that won't help getting it off the first time!
It would be a big help if you can post gasket/hose numbers. Have not been about to find them.

Default dropped in today

I told them about having to take the EGR off, and the hidden bolt, then when I dropped in an hour later they had it off, and yes the leak was at the front of the hose - When it started, I could hear something front, DS of the engine bay hissing, but the coolant was out the rear - there you go!
I gave them the link to this post for JagV8's part numbers list to order parts and put it back together.

Thanks All
Peter

Default Finished up now

OK, got my car back today, they took their time as a side project, I was busy and enjoying my 92 Thunderbird SC 5 Spd while it was fixed.
My mechanic charged me 6 hrs, and parts - not sure the full break down, but total was $949. It took longer, but fine given the work involved I am happy with this.
The only part which appear startlingly expensive was the thermostat at $80 or so.

No need... It's a 7MB file so too big to post here and archive.org hasn't got it.

I can upload it if someone has space but I don't use e.g. google's space or dropbox myself.

Sorry JagV8. I didnt notice the date on it. Or where it went (D'Oh!) Can I ask what the link was for? I'm not sure by the post, was it for a Parts Cat to suit S-Types? if so I'd love a copy, The SNG Barratt one seems to be missing a few items.
Cheers, Thanks for your patience with a n00b!

Yes, it's a (now) very old parts catalogue. It's now available for download from the forum MediaFire online storage:
