Cut out,..safety feature?

Cut out,..safety feature?
Hi all,
Just bought my first Jag it's a 2001 S Type Auto V6 3L.
Everything is in good shape, starts first kick and runs lovely, no mechanical or body work issues, although the rear discs and all round pads will be needed within 6 months.
However I have 2 noob questions, when it is ticking over in park or neutral on my drive after about 2 minutes or so it cuts out, it will restart first kick but will do exactly the same time and time again. So I was wondering if this is a meant feature? or I have a faulty hose or something? It's never happened in Drive as yet but then I don't hang around that much
Also it has the factory fitted satnav...is there a way to disable/mod the f1 agree screen so it goes straight to the maps?
Many thanks if you can answer any of them. I'm off to read more

No it shouldn't do it!
hmm, I'm more inclined towards an air leak. Commonly on that era & engine size it's a perished vacuum hose (try Search on hose elbow). The usual hose is under the manifold, sadly.
Does it do it if you rev gently (say 1000rpm)? If it does, try higher revs. If it's fuel pump I think it'll always cut out but if air leak then it'll stop doing it when at higher revs.
Er, better still, look at fuel trims with OBD but the above is simple.

Hi thanks for that, yes that was my guess as it gets a little lumpy around 500 rpm just before it cuts. I did not reply sooner as I wanted to test more and yes it does do it in any gear, and only at low rev, above 800 it wont cut. I had a good look around but can't find any obvious damage to hoses. Is it some sort of vaccum hose like the old retard and advance timming where they used a diaphram, although I guess they use sensors now?
I'm not familiar at all with this engine yet so it would be a great help if you could point me to the right hoses to check more thoroughly.
I do have a OBD interface but no laptop now, so i will have to borrow one
