Hi there all, new here, just brought a mint s type with 63000 on the clock, and would like to know what the material the dash is covered in, so i can get the right nourishment for it.
I dont wish it to crack so want apply an uv protectant over it. Is it leather?
Thanks in advance
Cheers Karl

It's vinyl. You're right in protecting the surface as day by day the UV rays will eventually break down the material.
I'm not too keen on anything other than a dash mat. I once used a high quality German made plastic cleaner on an old dash surface and it cracked soon after.
Not too convinced about the UV treatments either..
The best thing you could do is find a dash mat. Unfortunately not that easy and harder to find for a RHD S Type, pre or post X202.
No idea what year car you have and if its been out in the sun a lot, also not sure how bad the UV rays are in your part of NZ but you'll find the UV rays would have 'bleached' and broken down the rear parcel deck material as well by now on all cars of this vintage.
