You should have a 2nd (non-valet) key. If you don't, someone else can take your car and you're in a hole when your key gets worn or lost. Worth getting another.

No, see that little shoulder just below the key tip, that's the regular key.

I'm looking at my Valet key right now and that final cut is missing.

That I have a standard key is good news I guess. Except I would like it to work the trunk (boot) lock. I did make a 2nd copy of this one key that came with the car when I bought it. I got a blank blade from ebay and assembled it into the spare remote from my wrecked 2003 S-Type V8. A local Jag dealer referred me to a locksmith who cut and programmed it. Unless someone has a better idea, I'll try to contact that locksmith to see what he might recommend.

What colour is the head of the key? Not disputing the cut info, just wondering.

Does the key lock and unlock the glove compartment, doors etc?

Worst case you can get in by any of the other ways mentioned, then replace/repair lock and/or its linkages.

My Valet key has a green nonswitch-blade head

Right, I was just describing what it looks like for anyone who hasn't seen one.

Just wanted to post an update. Body shop finally received the correct part and installed a new cable system in the trunk. Key works perfectly now, imagine that! Between a new battery and new lock cabling, shouldn't have any issues in the foreseeable future.
