Differences between 2004 VS 2005 s types
Besides the back end of the car (the chrome strip), are there any other differences? I'm talking about both physical and internal mechanics. forgot to mention. im talking about the regular S type V6 (not s type R)

This comes up quite often - look for threads by tbird6. There are lots of fairly small/cosmetic changes and a few other issues. You're looking for 2004.5MY VIN N13088 (or for the diesel 2004.75 N14071).
The fog lights were deleted from the STR because the oil cooler was split into two and they're where the fogs were. (To fit the fogs - if they would fit in the new shape bumper - would mean moving the oil coolers, but where to???)

Some of the changes.
Redesigned instruments IE speedo and rev counter. otherwise few other changes to the interior.
Externally.
Front Grill sits in a more vertical plain than previous model.
Bonnet (Hood) changed profile and made of aluminium.
Lower Front Grill profile changed and fitted with round Fog Lights.
Front and rear bumpers reshaped with new thinner chrome inserts and the rear insert extended across the whole width of the bumper.
New Boot (Trunk) Lid, with the chrome or painted plinth extending across the full width of the Lid. Reshaped rear number plate area.
New profile Rear Wings with Rear Lights now flush with top of wings
Boot (Trunk) slightly deeper than the previous model.
Side lower skirt profile changed.
Introduction of the 2.7 diesel and the 2.5 V6 discontinued from May/June 2005 due to the introduction of the
Diesel option.
There are other small changes and will try and add them as they come to mind.
All in all though, the changes updated the appearance and IMHO improved the look of the S-Type quite a bit.

Inver.

No. If you park an 04 next to an 05, then walk around them and eyeball them carefully, you will notice the differences in the grill position, the taillight clusters, the trunk release button, the rear chrome, and the elevated, more streamlined shape of the overall rear end on the 05. There may be other subtle differences but these are the ones that come to mind....
