Do the STR and the S-Type 4.2L (non-supercharged) use the same filters? Because on the K&N website, it only offers the 4.2L S-Type, which I found weird, because it also acknowledges the XK8 and XK8-R. Any thoughts? Here is link to website...

Yep, that one will fit. I cross checked the part number with the one I bought and they are identical (33-2273). Go for it.

Awesome Chris X, thank you so much! I'm going to order it now - and its going to be the first of several mods to a car I promised I would not mod (just like my last car haha)

Ya I said the same thing when I bought mine. It didn't last long.

Extremely an unlikely event. It would take severe high pressure to dislodge the oil from the filters pleats...extremely unlikely.

Not especially unlikely. Has happened and been mentioned several times.

You need to put no more oil on than absolutely needed and if anything put too little on since a dirty MAF is bad news indeed. (Of course you're running a - slight? - risk that you let through some particles that would have been caught by the stock filter.)
