Default Do you change your cabin filter yearly?

I know it can be done fairly easily, but is it really necessary? For decades no cars even had one.

hi, I've replaced mine twice in the 12 years I've owned my S-Type. I've removed the cabin filter and freshed it up maybe 3 other times by blowing compressed air through it. It probably depands a lot on your driving environment.

I've changed mine once in 4 years and I took it out and poured Lysol through once to freshen things up.

LOL. Lysol, thats a good one Norri I may have to do that to mine. I've only did mine once when I made the video in two years of ownership. I live out in the country so the air isnt that dirty so I dont plan on changing it again for a while.

Vacuumed it out and spruced it up when I changed the IMT O-rings in January 2010. Would have replaced it if I had a new one with me at the time. Next time I have the cowl off, I'll replace it....

I replaced mine at 60K.. Got a wix from Napa Auto Parts for about 26 bucks out the door, it has the carbon in it, they did have a cheaper one without carbon.

It really depends on where you live and the conditions you drive in. I had a friend that has a cat problem in his neighborhood, and on his Jag S-type 4.0 had a cat **** on his hood/windshield becuase when he turned on his interior air, boy did it smell, when we took the cabin air out, it smell liked ****.

I think the recommended interval is 60K. I had a Toyota that I never changed, 125k on the clock.

I thought my owner's manual said to replace it yearly. Since that's under 6,000 miles for me, no way that's happening.

I changed mine when I had to change the IMT O-Rings last September-ish or so. I still think it was the original one too...anyway, I got a new one from Amazon for like $17.

I guess it all depends on where you live and the environment. Mine was pretty clean, but when i took it out, the filter fell apart.

I change mine on the LS about every two or when the car tells me too. I do not know what is being monitored to determine when is should be changed but it does give a percentage figure like engine oil. The Mark VIII doesn't have one.

Twice annually for me. Mostly because the car is stored for part of the year. Admittedly probably totally unnecessary to change it that frequently, but its just part of my checklist before it comes out of storage. I take it out to check it anyway (in case mice get in there) so I swap it out.

I'd say normally annually would be just fine, perhaps even every 2 years depending on your local conditions.

Per passport to service manual, this filter should be changed every 10,000 miles (16090 km to our metric friends)

I have replaced Joyces once in 2 1/2 years, but I do vacuum it out and the debris in the cowl drains after the leaves fall in the winter.

Just thought I would add this for the members that would like to see the filter change:

Yes, change the cabin filters at least every 10K miles or annually. I just changed mine to day and it was very dirty. Fram has a Febreze cabin filter - Part No. CF9465A - About $20.00 on Ebay - cheap maintenance.
