Your handbook no doubt covers that it's an oil pressure light. Don't fail to check the oil level

I change mine every 5000 miles. 5w-30 conventional oil. Considering I can get the oil and filter changed at Midas for $23.00, it is worth it.

I called the Jag dealer and asked them, they told me the book says 10,000 miles, but he said he would do 5,000 miles. That's the route I am choosing.

Did you ask them why they recommend half the factory interval?

Trying to say what the customer wants to hear?

Hoping for extra business?

It's odd to imagine that the maker can't get something as basic as the oil change interval right.........
And if they really can't, what about the more complex stuff.......
Would you buy a car from a maker so useless?

edit: of course, if you just want to change it earlier (or later), regardless of no hard evidence, well - it's your car

I dunno about letting what was probably an offhand comment/advice by whomever answered the phone in the service department to trump what is recommended by the manufacturer in writing.

But hey, go with what you think is best I suppose if it gives you peace of mind.

Sounded fishy, he said they put that in the book to save the company money due to free oil changes given out, so they prolonged the miles to change the oil. LOL.
