Default Door module replacement

Among the problems our Jag mechanic has repaired last week was the issue of the windows deciding not to work. It was so unpredictable that we have not used the windows for fear of being stuck in the rain with windows that won't close.

I suspected a wiring issue in the driver's door - likely the +12V to the door module. The mechanic discovered the module itself to be bad. He said it's the first time he has seen a bad door module in his many years of working on S-type Jaguars.

Well, after we got home we found that the key fobs won't work at all. Does the new module need to be programmed to work with our fobs?

(Also, the seat & steering column now go back after removing the key, for the first time ever! I don't see the point in it, so will probably turn that feature off, but it's nice to know that more things currently work as they should.)

Yes. The DDM ( drivers door module ) has the antenna and recieves the signals from the remotes.

you might get awayv with the ignition trick. Know it works on x types. Cant remember about s type.

turn ign on snd off 5 times in quick succession. You should hear a chime. Now press each remote. As each remote is recongised you will hear a chime.

jagv8 might confirm if this works on s types ???

if not its ids/sdd.
where do you live

Yes the Driver's Door module needs to be programmed, and you will need all your keys, as the security functions is done through the Driver's Door Module.
