Default drag strip tmrw

I'll be returning to the drag strip after running a best of 13.9@101 in April. At the time I had an open element filter which is what I think slowed me down a lot. I installed the mina intake shield and filter and it helped a lot and then put on the mina pulley. Hoping to be a second faster. I have every mod except for highbrow cats .

Should I reset the ecu??? Haven't since I've performed the mods.

Lots of good threads out there about racing the STR correctly. Remember, TC off and be in S mode, deflate the rears to roughly 28 psi to 26 psi. Good luck!

13.6 @104 with a 2.0 60ft seems slow for mina pulley ,intake, intake tube, x pipe, and magnaflow mufflers. I wounder if spark plugs would help? Never changed them.

Seems okay, which size mina pulley do you have?

Whats the elevation at your local track?

You ran 101mph before installing the pulley, seems like you picked up a bit.

What were some of the other cars at the track running?

I think it's good but like you mentioned could be better. Picking up 3mph is roughly like picking up 20-30rwhp, so you made an improvement. Good points from gt42r, what was the density altitude? How was traction? First gear was pretty much ueseless when I went to the track, so I am wondering I it was the same for you? Did you redline first and second?

The density altitude was around 790 above sea level. I had quite a few runs were I just roasted the tires and let off. My tires are Dunlop sport maxx gt 255 35 19 which do get sticky, but I was only able to cut 2.063 60ft as my best. I did redline in first and 2nd gear. My car has 96k miles on it and I'm thinking the spark plugs might be due for a change, because I think it should easily be in the low 13s high 12s even. Most other cars there where running good times.

It's been a few months so I can't recall my numbers when I went to drag strip but I have similar mods to yours and did 13.2 as best time and the rest were all in mid-13s like yourself. Those are great numbers for the heavy pig of a car the STR is.

Plus you, like myself, are running on 19" wheels which does not help with launch.

Did you air down the back tires (particularly the driver's side) to ~25 psi? I've had a couple runs when I didn't air down and smoked the tires pretty good and it hurt my time a lot. Make sure you avoid the water box, too, as it doesn't do street tires any good at all. I think the 19s are hurting you in both size and being that they have a skinnier than stock tire. I typically cut 60' between 2.000 and 2.050 depending on the DA, but my DA is usually around the 7-8000 ft. mark. With that DA and the stock 18s, I bet you could be pulling 60' times around the 1.9 mark getting your ET down to around 13.2-13.3 and with a trap closer to 106 or 107.

I did the opposite on tire pressure for some reason. Driver 28psi passenger 25. Just re looked at the time slip. 60ft was 2.019 and 13.637@104.48. I think I should be around 107trap. Something has to be slowing me down.

Dump the 19 inch wheels. You will see a difference! I would run 16's if possible but you can't on a STR.

If you don't get a clean run, especially getting full traction of the line, then the run is semi worthless. When you get a good launch in a 12 second car, you should know it because your neck will definitely feel it. The drag strip breaks hearts and minds, ask me how I know.

My best 60' is only 1.9.

Heavy, auto, peg leg cars arent the best

Yea I'm going to put in a set of new ngks and see if it helps. I've herd old plugs can cause a 10-15% power loss on the dyno. Even if the car idles and runs smooth. My car probably has the original 96k plugs I'm sure. It doesn't seem like the launch is whats out of wack its the low trap speeds. Which means I'm losing power somewhere.

As far as the 19' wheels it might hurt a little bit. But xjrs run 19s and are actually faster than strs

Your 255/35R19s are a 1/2" taller than stock 275/35R18s. Taller tires = lower trap speed. I don't think you'll pick up 3 mph by going back to stock size, but it will be faster. How many mphs are you gaining from the 1/8th to the 1/4?

Around 23mph. I looked at other str time slips and they seem about 3 or 4mph faster in the 1/8mile
