jagfan, normally with the dsc fault, it is caused by a wheel sensor issue. This should also be giving you an ABS error too. Unfortunately, this is going to require taking the car to a shop with a high end code reader. They will need to access the other computers in the car (not just the ECU). This will tell you down to the sensor that is acting up and causing your problem. From there, it will be down to a sensor, a wiring problem, or a computer issue.

Mine came on just after buying my S. The dealer ended up changing the ABS module and the master cylinder. I totally agree that your going to have to get a thorough diagnostic check done since the light can mean a great many things and the error could be anything from a simple sensor to something as big as the repair I had done (under warranty, thank God).

Mines been on forever, it's the steering angle sensor... just haven't got around to fixing it, I guess it will be expensive as you have to remove the upper steering column to get to it.

Is the ABS the Teves IV? It may be a dry joint on the circuit board if so.

Very simple to fix.

Does sound like a failing battery issue. BTW what happened to the "old" motor?

One more vote for checking the battery.
