Default Ebay ABS moducle purchase advice pls

Thanks in advance for your assistance all of you ABS experts!!!

My local dealer, Manhattan Jaguar, and Top Line Jaguar both tested my vehicle and said the ABS fault would be fixed by replacing the faulty ABS module. I am still trying to locate the paper work and when I do I'll provide the code. After searching the web and this forum, I'm trying to resolve the problem myself. I began by removing the ABS module in the hopes of finding a cold soldier joint and/or failed component on the printed circuit board (PCB).

ATTEMPTED ABS MODULE REPAIR:
I used a 2.5" drill bit to create an inspection and test hole. Unfortunately, I did not locate any cold soldier joints and/or failed components through the inspection hole. Next, I tried to carefully remove the entire top cover. For me, this was a bad idea. I cut too deep and damaged the ABS module's PCB.

NEED HELP FINDING A REPLACEMENT ABS MODULE:
A) I cannot seem to locate any module companies that repair 2004-2008 Jaguar modules.
B)I've located a couple ABS modules on Ebay with the exact same part number as my 2005 module. Unfortunately, the sellers's description leaves me wary to make the purchase. Please let me know what you guys think about purchasing either of these purchases...
$60 Jaguar s Type 2005 ABS Anti Lock Pump Control Module PN 4R832C219BD | eBay
$40 Jaguar s Type 2005 ABS Anti Lock Pump Control Module PN 4R832C219BD | eBay

Would you guys/gals trust this seller? I'm hesitant on purchasing either one.

Last, it seems if I source another working ABS module, I may need to have it programmed to work with my vehicle. Is this true even if I match it up with another module with the same part number.

If you pay with PayPal I can't see you having any trouble with the deal . As you are well protected with both eBay and PayPal , most eBay claims are favoured towards helping the customer if your claim is legitimate ! If the sellers feed back score is ok , then go for it .
As for programming I'd cross that bridge when you come to it . As really you are committed to replacing the component now wether you like it or not . If the part is from the same model/year of car I'd say it will plug&play. Good luck

IMHO I am a savvy eBay buyer of auto parts, expensive musical instruments and household items. So I will answer your question about trusting this seller.

Yes, I would buy from this seller for the same reasons Datsports lists above.

This seller has been an eBayer since 1999, has sold 650 items, and has 100% satisfaction rating with 80 positive reviews and 0 negative reviews in the past year alone. Read the Item Description thoroughly and ask him any questions you have BEFORE you buy, as neither part is guaranteed to work or is returnable. In my opinion he's done a good job of disclosing both the good and bad details.

Pay with Paypal so, in the unlikely event you do get cheated, you have some recourse. And if you buy one of these, be sure to leave feedback once the part has been delivered.

Now let's talk about the modules he's selling. I am not an ABS expert. But the seller clearly warns in the Item Descriptions that there is no guarantee that either one of these even work, as they were the wrong part for his car, so he never got to test them.

He further states that the numbers on your module and on the replacement must match exactly or the replacement won't work - which he says he learned the hard way.

So YES, I would buy from this seller as he has earned my trust; but NO, I would not buy either of these modules without knowing it previously worked on the donor car (you might ask him to answer this question if he knows), AND that it has the exact same number as mine (check your module and compare to his pictures).

Good luck!

I am fairly sure a used one will not need any programming if it matches your car (has the right part # etc).

Thanks Datsports, Jumpin' Jag Flash and JagV8 for your input and advice.

Instead of purchasing via Ebay, I decided to spend more for an ABS module which is guaranteed to work out-of-the-box and has a 60-day warranty. Here's the place I went with: UneedAPart.com (Click Here).
Tel # 844-618-7599
Tel: 904-296-3003
Fax: 904-328-3783

I spoke with Lorenzo and the owner of the company is Daniel O'Connor. The price, including shipping, was $149. BTW, this price includes the ABS pump too. I don't need the pump so I will just separate the two and just us the module.

I'll let you know how things work out in terms of delivery time, if it works out-of-the-box and if I have any problems after a bit of time has passed.

Sounds like a good choice.

They (wholesaleusedparts.net) sent the wrong ABS module and I am giving them the opportunity to correct their mistake without bad mouthing them across multiple forums.

After a lot of reading, replacement ABS modules are plug-and-play provided they have the EXACT part number.
My vehicle's VIN is SAJWA03V251N30441
My vehicle's ABS module part number is 4R83-2C219-BD
The ABS Module provided has the part number 4R83-2C219-BC1

I was assured the module would function without being programmed. It was installed and my vehicle has the code "improper ABS configuration". I can't recall the code verbatim, but today it was read by a $9,700 Snap-On code reader and they said it must be programmed.

I will advise how things progress day-by-day; specifically how fast and how well they respond to their mistake.

Question Can orig. ABS pump be programmed to work with a used/donor ABS module?

I just spoke with Lorenzo. At this point, they will refund the purchase amount but it is not clear if they will pay for the return shipping.

I'm checking with the dealer now to determine if they're able to make the module work (via reprogramming).

Edit:
- Dealer cannot seem to tell me if they can program the used/donor ABS module with the original ABS pump.
- From what I have read, I thought the module alone could be replaced and made to work with the orig. ABS pump.

With the part numbers I provided --- Am I wrong?

FWIW I did swap out the ABS module on my S Type while leaving the old pump in place. However I made sure that the number on the replacement module was EXACTLY the same as on the old module. I did not have to do any programming when I made the swap.

When I was searching I found quite a few modules that were listed as being for my car but which had different numbers. Perhaps due to different options, I don't know.

Thanks Boo and to everyone who's responded! This is the information I was looking for.

Last, do you recall if you had to have the code cleared or did the code clear as soon as you replaced the defective module?

It's been almost three years and I can't really remember if the code cleared itself or I cleared it. I am thinking that the CEL light and DCS/Traction Control message on the cluster went away immediately

They're in the module so if it's replaced then they're gone. I think - I've not so far had to do it.

Default Returning ABS module, need ABS module p/n 4R83-2C219-BD

The place I tried (UneedAPart.com) was not able to provide the ABS module I requested. My plan is to return their module next week and they are sending a label to ship back the return.

Chances are slim to none but does anybody know how to get their hands on an ABS module the part number 4R83-2C219-BD?

I'll keep checking Ebay and other salvage yards.

When I swapped mine (with the same exact part number down to the last letters) the code disappeared. No reprogramming/reflashing necessary.
