Intake and exhaust (including cats) and low temp thermostat. And even though this car don't really need a tune with the pulley, I figure I'll give a shot I have had a good experience with Ecu tune/reflash and it wouldn't hurt and for the price I can't complain, just gotta get my car maintenance up to date 1st.. lol

Ditto. For some time now, we've been asking ECU Tuning Group to allow one of our STR's to be a test mule. This is the only way I'll drop a grand on them.

I really don't think there's much in the way of substantial gains that could be realized through a tune anyways. At best you can find some minor gains by taking up some of the safety margin the stock ecu provides

Bottom line is, the factory blower can't flow any more air. You can find gains by making efficiency improvements (read: bolt-ons) but any significant boost in power requires a new blower/power-adder. Even the dyno's I've seen posted of smaller-pulley equipped STR's, make a bit more at peak torque, but fall off hard from there, and by redline are making same power if not less as a stock pulley setup.

The $1,200+ for a generic tune is probably better spent elsewhere to be honest.

Hey guys. Sorry, we haven't been active in this forum lately. We have been busy developing new software for the McLaren and F10 M5. A customer of ours from the 5.0L section brought this to my attention.

For those who currently do not have a 4.2L tune and are contemplating purchasing it, I can assure you the car is an absolute rocket. I know the 5.0L SC is no 4.2L SC but if you take a look at any of the XFR/XJL/XKR threads, you will see every member with an ETG tune extremely satisfied. One member by the name of "BigCat09" who currently drives a XFR received 66.7whp with only a tune on top of the pulley. Videos, dyno sheets, etc to prove it.

Thank you, but you're only providing anecdotal information derived from heresay. Since the "5 L s/c is no 4.2 L s/c...", what if the motors are too far apart in design for the 4.2L s/c to benefit? 5 L has new heads, direct injection, and t/s blower, etc. The only way the greater majority of us will pull the trigger on an ECU tune is to see the raw data from an STR test mule with no pulley, 1.5 and 3.0 lb pulleys, and stock vs modded exhaust.

Hey Guys!

An ETG representative will be around Boston and Connecticut until Sunday. If any of you are interested in having your vehicles programmed, please contact me immediately.

Sorry for the short notice!

Kind regards,

ECU Tuning Group

Default Come on?

Guys, I tried so hard not to respond...took a walk around the lake, jumped into my hot tub, beat my dog.... I just couldn't help myself: ECU Tuning Group, the day I drop a grand on your bench tune is when a few forum STR owners (won't accept anyone outside this forum) recieve complimentary tunes with dyno charts proving efficacy.

Ditto. I'm considering an off the shelf tune, but with nothing to back up claims except that "my car will rocket" it is very disconcerting. Comparing the 4.2 to the 5.0 is worthless, you might as well compare it to the McLaren. I have a consistent dyno with all my current mods. I have consistent 1/4 mile times. You have no dynos of what my car will do with your tune, even if it were stock. For $1,000 and no dyno-tuning capabilities, I'd need proof or a specific output guarantee on top of my current output when run at the same dyno. If you are willing to give some members here with varying mods (stock, 1.5# pulley, 3# pulley, intake, exhaust) a hefty discount to help you market your product with dyno proof to back up your claims than we are all ears and you would easily sell 15-20 or more tunes just from this forum alone in a short time span. You can look at the intake threads, they sold out almost immediately from multiple makers after a dyno was posted.

Well put Quartz. STR forum members, if you feel the same as quartz and I, then feel free to chime in; calling ECU Tuning Group out on the tarmac. Do you feel they should use a member(s) STR's as "Test Mules" in various stages of modification, to "prove" their products claims? All interested, please chime in.

Agreed, I wouldn't mind a safe bump in go and tq but above all if they could trick my tranny into red lining first thru third, that would be a cash in hand kind of deal for me.

We just need empirical data...

Agreed, I bought the intake tube on dyno evidence, and I would do the same for this.

hey guys, I'm almost at the end of my Warrantied Mileage. That being the case, after I have my next service scheduled for Monday the 19th of November, I'm going to call this company and we'll see what is what. I can fork over the 1350 or whatever it is mid december. I have no mods on my car but the K&N air filter and the Qwiketz Intake tube. My vehicle should serve as a good "test dummy" for their claims. So keep your eyes peeled. I'll be sure to dyno before with the current mods, and after. This way we'll have the baseline. I'm still very interested in the twin screw or this other beast the the boys at B.I.P are constructing. How's that sound? I'll also have to see how far I need to go from MD to have their service performed, but rest assured, the truth will be known by Mid Jan 2013 at the latest.
