Default Electronic Parking Brake motor issue?

The electronic parking brake on my car is not working and displays parkbrake fault constantly, better off all the time than on all the time, I guess. I took the car to a shop who had the software to talk to the car. I was told that the problem is the motor itself and not electronic. Do you have to drop the whole rear suspension to change the motor or is there an access panel in the trunk? You can hardly see the thing on top of the differential. Should I go some place else for second opinion? Will it hurt the transmission parking on a slight incline with no parking brake? Any feedback would be appreciated.

See post #17 in this thread:

That post has a link showing how to remove the actuator, what you might find inside, etc.

Thanks for the input. I checked the pricing for a new actuator, which was hard to find and $800.00 at that, it's probably less to have one shipped from England. Used 20 year old ones are from $200 TO $300. I'm definitely going to get a second opinion on the problem. Looks like it's going to be no parking brake except for firewood and driftwood for a while, when there is no curb on a hill. I'm going to pull the fuses for the parking brake and see if it turns off the warning message and beeping, hopefully it won't make the beeper continuous..

I pulled the fuses for the stupid Electronic Parking Brake, F35 and F52 in luggage compartment and no more parkbrake fault messages and beeping. I got the message! I was afraid it would make the beeping constant if I pulled the fuses, but the beeping is no more.
