I have an 03 S-Type and the low coolant light came on on my way back from Nashville. I stopped and added some coolant (only took a little bit, although the resevoir was dry). The light came back on again about 5 miles down the road. I monitored the temp but it did not change all the way back to Atlanta. Added some more coolant and again it only took a little and the resevoir was dry.
Could this just be a crack in the resevoir or return hose? The temp does not seem to be affected in the short term and it seems to be holding coolant in the radiator.
Thanks!
Sol

3THINGS ON THE CAR FOR COOLANT LEAKS
#1 LINE ONTOP OF RESERVOIR CRACKED, MOVE IT AND YOULL SEE MORE THAN LIKELY
#2 THERMOSTAT HOUSINGS CRACK
#3 ON THE UPPER COOLANT HOSE MATRIX, THE PLASTIC PIPE HAS A FITTING ON TOP THAT CRACKS TOO
AS WITH ANY COOLANT LEAKS WHEN YOURE OUT ON THE ROAD, KEEP THE RESERVOIR FULL AND DO NOT TIGHTEN THE CAP FULLY OR THE SYSTEM JUST BUILDS PRESSURE AND FORCES COOLANT OUT EVEN FASTER OR WILL CAUSE THE LEAK TO TOTALLY FAIL.
DO NOT LET COOLANT LEAKS GO AS EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE DOESNT SHOW OVER HEATING YOU CAN DEVELOP AIR POCKETS IN THE SYSTEM AND LOCALIZED OVERHEATING ESPECIALLY IN THE HEADS THAT CAN LEAD TO DROPPED VALV SEATS AND LOSS OF COMPRESSION(READ NO COMPRESSION NOT LOSS OF)

2005 Jag S Type, coolant loss, drops below the min/max, no temp problems. Continued for a few days, go out in the morning and there is coolant everywhere, fill again. Took to the shop, they diagnosed as Heater control valve (?) I don't understand this. Do the two relate? 885.00 to replace Heater Control Valve. ![Frown](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Not quit sure how to find a reply, should someone reply, can you respond to rdsliny@aol.com....
