As for interpreting the codes into Jag-Speak the technical service manual JTIS is avialable on CD/DVD on Ebay. The latest version is supposed to be 2004. I found the Ebay descriptions to be very confusing and I kind of felt like I was possibly going to get taken so I just downloaded a copy. Send me a PM and I can send the link if it still works. It's two part but on only the first half worked for me but everything I need for the S-type seems to be there. You need to have a DVD writer on your system and a blank DVD. There may also be some issues with it working on Windows 7. I'm still running XP and it works just fine. Don't expect a spohisticated and wonderfull application. I don't know about the Mac.
As for what your problems are hopefully some of the guys who know these cars well will pipe-up and give you some thoughts.

P0102 - Look for a blocked air cleaner, a leak in the hose between the air filter and the TB, or you can have a problem with the MAFS
P0112 – Intake Air Sensor (IAT) sensor disconnected or the wiring open or short circuit. Sensor failure.
P0174 – Air Intake leak between MAFS & Cylinder head.
I have a troubleshooting procedure for the xk8 & xj8 and S-Type http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairTroubleShooting.htm Hope it helps!

Thanks Gus, good stuff. Got another question.
On the write up for P0171/P0174 lean bank, it keeps mentioning the MAP sensor but the code description you give is the MAF sensor. Is there a typo in the write up or is MAP the correct thing to be checking?
A year ago I put in a Pep Boys type air filter (cant remember the brand) and I remember having to trim the rubber edges to fit even though book said it was correct one. I have a feeling all this has something to do with the filter. I'm hoping it's that simple.
St, I have a Mac but only a PC version disc of JTIS and cant retrieve info. Was told to try and look at PDF's on the disc though.

Which of the V8 engines? The codes and possible causes will vary. (As does the wiring etc).
For the 4.2, P0174 is Bank 2 combustion too lean.
You have one or more air leaks and/or bad sensors. As you have that air filter you may have had dirt that's contaminated the MAF.
Sometimes MAFs clean, others they need replacing. I hope not that, or it makes the cheap air filter VERY expensive!
P1111 you can Search on here if you want details but is normal so can be ignored.

Sorry, not sure which V8 I got.
I put new air filter from Jag ($35) and trashed the cheapy Pep Boys one I had to trim. Erased the codes using my reader and now they havent come back.
When I do a scan I get the P1000 pending message. The ABS amber light is going on and off but that used to before. Was wondering why no codes show up for the ABS light but I think its just a warning and not error code type failure.
We'll keep an eye on it and see if it comes back. THX
